Building a Team
The purpose of icebreakers and team building is to form a more supportive, trusting and cohesive group. Each group will have a different style, skill level and values. When selecting a team building activity, consider the levels of risk and decide which level is appropriate for the group you are working with.
Low-Risk Activity: For people who have never worked together before. Most icebreakers will fit in this category.
Moderate Risk Activity: For people who just met.
High Risk Activity: For groups that know each other well.
Icebreakers and Team Builders
Icebreakers are simple techniques used to reduce anxiety and get everyone excited and energized. Icebreakers can set a positive tone for the meeting, help build relationships and motivate people to participate. Team builders can help an established group learn more about how to work with each other, solve problems and be more effective.
Workshops and seminars are a valuable tool to help you explore the different areas of the GPS LifePlan. Your campus may or may not offer workshops or seminars, check with your GPS LifePlan coordinator.
