About GPS LifePlan
Created by Century College (MN) in 2006, the GPS LifePlan is a holistic program designed to help students plan for their futures. The program focuses on five areas of development: Career, Education, Finance, Leadership and Personal. In each area, users are encouraged to assess their needs, set goals, and create plans to move them in the direction of achieving their goals. The GPS LifePlan was inspired by Valencia Community College (FL) College Life Map.
In 2008 the Minnesota State College and University (MnSCU) system, in partnership with Century College and with representative of other MnSCU institutions and ISEEK, developed a more generalized higher education version of the GPS LifePlan. In addition to the multiple customized higher education versions for MnSCU institutions, we have also developed versions for the following audiences:
This version was developed in partnership between the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, the Minnesota Army National Guard and the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs Higher Education Veterans Programs. This is a collaborative product of the Veterans Re-Entry Education Program that was partially funded by a 2009 congressionally-directed award to Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, P116Z090310.
This version was developed in partnership between Century College, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, and the Department of Employment and Economic Development. The advisory group includes representatives from various Minnesota WorkForce Centers and Adult Basic Education. This version includes a button that links to the MyMilitary GPS LifePlan when more resources are available.
This is a replica of the versions that MnSCU colleges and universities use but there is not specific institutional branding or support links. This version includes link to the MyMilitary GPS LifePlan when additional information is available to military Servicemembers, veterans, and their families.
This version was developed in partnership between Century College, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, and the Minnesota Department of Education. The advisory group includes representatives from various high schools, the Girl Scouts, Junior Achievement and Adult Basic Education.
