Creating a Plan and Setting Goals

Setting goals is a great way to gain direction and purpose. The more you can clearly define your goals, the more likely you are to achieve success. Take these 2 steps to create your career goals:

1. Learn more about effective goal-setting on the links below:

2. Write Your Career Goals Using the Forms Below:

When job searching, it is important to devise a plan and stay focused. Be specific about what type of position you are looking for and consider the following:

  • Geographic location
  • Type of organization/company
  • What type of position
  • Desired benefits and salary
  • Nature of the work

You have come far on your career exploration journey and it may be helpful to compile what you have learned about yourself and your various career options. At this stage, reviewing all you have learned can help suggest what direction(s) you should go. Some parts of your research may seem more connected than others - that is not uncommon. It is suggested that you include everything initially and as you go, you can make decisions as to which parts are most relevant to your specific goals.
