Courses for College Success
Most colleges and universities offer courses designed to share with students the skills that will help them be successful in college. Some courses familiarize new students to the college experience. They focus on campus resources, expectations of college faculty, building effective study skills, and more. Other courses such as computer application, library research skills, and career planning provide opportunities to develop or enhance specific skills. Check the course schedule on your campus to find out which classes are available to you.

First Hand Stories from First Generation Students This site contains videos of individuals talking about their experiences as first year students.
First In the Family This entire site is dedicated to offering practical advice, inspiration, and planning tools for first generation college students. Much of the information comes from students themselves and the site also contains videos.
First Generation College Student Newsletter This newsletter published by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education contains many articles about first generation students. It discusses recent issues and trends in the state including the increase of older students who are first generation.

Migrant Education This U.S. Department of Education site lists programs available to migrant and seasonal farm workers and their families.
GED and College Assistance This organization provides help to migrants looking to obtain a GED and offers support for migrant students planning to attend college.
